MATARA BASE HOSPITAL

Dr. Kanishka Dissanayake from the Matara Base Hospital got in touch with us regarding a shortage in equipment they had and we managed to donate the following upon the Hospital’s request:

 

100 Ansell Coverall kits

30 goggles 

160 Wurth N95 masks 

 

Below are some photos of Dr. Kanishka himself accepting the donation from Capt. Rehan Guneratne on the 1st of May 2020 at his residence due to the restrictions on travel we had during the curfew period.

RAGAMA HOSPITAL

Upon consultation with Dr. Ananda Jayalal from the MOH, we learnt that there was a shortage of ICU beds in the country when it came to dealing with this pandemic. He then sent us a list of equipment that would make up a complete ICU bed which he recommended that we donate to the Ragama Hospital as it is one of the most important Hospitals in that area of the country treating COVID-19 patients. We then coordinated with Dr. Nilmini Wijesuriya who is a consultant Anaesthetist at the Ragama Hospital and arranged the donation of the following equipment.

 

3-function bed

Syringe pumps

Infusion pump

Double Jar Suction Apparatus

Multi-parameter Monitor

 

Below are some photos of Dr. Nilmini Wijesuriya accepting the equipment on behalf of the Hospital on the 9th of May by Capt. Suneth Fernando, Capt. Gayan Tudawe, Capt. Pasindu Nanayakkara, Capt. Dayan Alles, FO Surashmin Perera and FO Isuru Vajirapani.

SRI LANKA ARMY

We managed to get an appointment with Colonel W. Chandrasiri , who is the Chief Coordinator at the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 and Capt. Suneth Fernando, Capt. Gayan Tudawe, Capt Pasindu Nanayakkara and Capt. Dayan Alles attended the meeting to discuss how we can help the Sri Lanka Army in the fight against COVID-19.

 

Colonel Chandrasiri as well as Major General Adeepa Thilakarathna who were present at the meeting, informed us of the shortage of reusable masks the army is facing. Hence we pledged to donate 10,000 reusable 3-ply face masks upon their request.

 

The donation of 10,000 masks was accepted by Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva on the 20th of May. The photos below are of Capt Gayan Tudawe and Capt Pasindu Nanayakkara handing over the masks on behalf of the membership.

POLICE HOSPITAL

By getting in touch with Dr. Ravindra Basnayake who is a surgeon at the Police Hospital in Narahenpita, we were able to learn that they were facing a shortage in supply of some items in the fight against COVID-19. Upon getting a list of items they needed, we were able to donate the following:

 

2,500 reusable 3-ply face masks

50 Ansell Coverall kits

400 Surgical gowns

16 Disinfecting Floor Mats

 

The above items were handed over to the Police Hospital in Narahenpita on the 29th of May by Capt. Janaka Perera, Capt. Pasindu Nanayakkara and Capt. Dayan Alles on behalf of the membership.
